My Circle - Alltel's Innovative Rate Plan

My CircleAlltel, the nation's fifth largest wireless phone company, announced new rate plan called My Circle that will allow people to make and get unlimited calls for free from up to 10 people regardless of what Service Provider they use.

Pretty sweet but there is a catch…My Circle is only available to subscribers who have at least a $59.99 monthly plan. But they’ll be able to list ten phone numbers that they want to be part of their "circle” (hence the name My Circle). Better yet those numbers can be either from wireless or landline phones. An Alltel spokesman said that customers can even change their My Circle numbers as often as they like using the My Circle web site.

My CircleMost major wireless providers have offered similar bargains on calling certain numbers, but My Circle is the first time a Carrier is allowing users to get free calls from customers who are subscribers of other Service Providers.

Alltel, based in Little Rock, Ark., has also grown rapidly throughout the past few years primarily through acquisitions. It bought the wireless assets of CenturyTel in 2002 and Western Wireless in 2005. The company now has more than 10 million subscribers.
