University of Central Florida Victim Services Partners with CellForCash.com to Raise Funds and Benefit the Environment

University of Central Florida Victim Services through their partnership with CellForCash.com will promote a buy-back service to students and faculty which will generate $5 per transaction for Victim Services and benefit the environment by providing an ecologically safe way to dispose of cell phones

Orlando, FL, - October 18, 2007 – Where are your old cell phones?  How many do you have tucked away somewhere in your home?  If you are like most people, you probably have at least two of them stored in a drawer.  CellForCash.com wants to know where your retired cell phones are because they want them.  What better time to get some a little extra cash for those cell phones than around America Recycles Day.  The University of Central Florida (UCF) Victim Services will share a booth with CellForCash.com at the Student Union Market Day Wednesdays through mid-November--$5 from each transaction will be donated to benefit Victim Services.

America Recycles Day is November 15.  It’s time to recycle old and useless items and do something useful with them.  Most cell phones are recyclable resources.  CellForCash.com pays cash for cell phones.  Those cell phones not found on the 600-plus listing can still be donated on-line to provide emergency communication for victims of abuse and seniors in need--or they will be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.

An estimated 12 million cell phones are retired every month in the U.S and most can easily make it to your local waste stream.  This season millions of people will upgrade their old cell phone or receive one as a gift adding to the problem.  Many people don’t know what to do with old cell phones and have them stored in drawers where they are collecting dust.

With the environmental issues facing us today, the improper disposal of e-waste is creating even more environmental problems.  Very few states have laws regulating the proper disposal of electronics, and e-waste is becoming one of the most prolific polluters of today.  The hazardous wastes and toxic chemicals from cell phones can potentially reduce air quality and cause harmful chemicals to leak into our water supplies.

Less than 10% of cell phones are recycled.  Only about 5% of people do anything with their old cell phones, and a few percent actually do throw them in the garbage.  If only more of these people knew they could sell their phones on www.CellForCash.com we could help the environment—and they could get a little cash to spend.

Visit CellForCash.com or come to Market Days on Wednesdays to learn more about how you can help.  Celebrate America Recycles Day by doing your part to keep American green
